We are proud to be able to support learners in both clinical and non clinical roles at Tawstock Medical Centre as they grow and develop in their careers.
At present we have learners in the following areas:
- Medical Students
These are students of medicine who are in the 4th or 5th year of their medical training course to become a qualified Doctor on the GMC register.
- Medical Registrars
These are qualified Doctors who are on the GMC register and who are now learning to become General Practitioners (GPs).
- Student Nurses
These are Students of Nursing, in either the 1st, 2nd or 3rd year of their degree training course to become a qualified Nurse on the NMC register.
- Trainee Nurse Associate – (TNA)
TNAs are Health care assistants who are training to be Nurse Associates (NAs). The Nursing Associate role is designed to bridge the gap between Healthcare Assistants and Registered Nurses in England. Nursing Associates will deliver care, freeing up Registered Nurses to spend more time using their skills and knowledge to focus on complex clinical duties and take a lead in decisions on the management of patient care. NAs, when qualified, will join the NMC register.
- Medical Administration Apprentice
This is a member of the reception team who is working through a NVQ level 2 in Medical Administration.
When visiting the surgery there may be a medical or nursing student with the clinician you are seeing. We hope you will be happy to have the student shadow your consultation, however if you do not wish to have them present during your consultation please let a member of staff know. At all times your wishes will be respected and this will not affect your treatment in any way.
