The past few years have been an incredibly challenging time for the NHS. During this time, we have had to rapidly adapt to the ever-changing needs of our local population, while at the same time continuing to care for our patients, in a safe and supportive environment,
Even without the pandemic, the demands on general practice continue to grow and if we want to continue providing high-quality, safe, and sustainable care both now and in the future, we need to look at how we can do things differently.
We believe that the best option for the future of the practice is to merge with Essex House Medical Centre.
Both medical centres have long enjoyed a good working relationship and in recent months have been discussing the potential benefits of formalising the partnership by merging the two practices. We feel that the benefits of joining together will allow both practices to draw from a shared range of expertise and resources, providing a secure and sustainable future to patients and staff.
From a patient perspective, both practices will continue to operate as they do currently, and patients will still attend their usual practice.
During these discussions we have kept our Patient Participation Group (PPG) fully informed about our thinking and we now believe that this is the right time to share this news with you.
Going forward it is hoped that this partnership will provide the opportunity for some services to be shared across both sites for the benefit of all patients, but for now there are no definite plans in place. Please be assured that if the time comes, we will keep you updated and informed.
For now, we would like to take the opportunity to reassure patients at Tawstock Medical Centre that their access to high quality care will remain unchanged.
