Welcome to Tawstock Medical Centre
Tawstock Medical Centre is a GP surgery in Chard with approximately 6100 patients.
Dr Down and Dr Alberts are the partners within the surgery and opened the new building in January 2014.
We would like to say a big thank you to our patients for their understanding and common sense during this bad weather. We are still open as normal for patients who are able to attend the surgery.
Thank you to one of our neighbours and patient in helping the Practice Manager clear the pathways within the gardens and car park and outside on the main pathway.
Thank you to the staff who have made it in also, and thank you to the Practice Manager who has kindly come in on his day off to clear paths and has also picked up patients to come in to see the doctor and dropped medication off for patients in his Jeep, Thank you to you all.
What are medication reviews?
Many people on repeat prescriptions will have noticed that there is a medication review date on their repeat prescription request form; some patients have asked whether they need to do anything about this.
When a drug is added to your repeat prescription the practice will review whether this should continue to be prescribed (every 6 months or 1 year). This involves one of the Doctors looking at the medication being prescribed and ensuring that any appropriate checks or blood tests have been done. Quite often this is all that is required, but for some patients on specific treatments or on multiple prescriptions you may be invited to come in to the surgery for a medication review with our own clinical pharmacist – this is a specialised pharmacist who works for the surgery rather than the chemist.
